Extension du champ de l’écologie
The expression “extension of the field of ecology” suggests a two-fold approach covering: 1) scientific ecology, a well established approach by now, but one which is giving rise to many original developments;2) and secondly, political ecology, a more recent line of thought which needs, as never before, to enlarge its field of intervention. This article sets out to show that the two approaches constitute a potentially promising hybrid space of thought, provided that humanity calls on what the sociologist Ulrich Beck refers to as “cosmopolitan intelligence” to explore it from both practical and theoretical points of view.
