A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
This is a 3D scan (point cloud) of the Kronborg Castle created in the context of the DuraArK-Project. The project developed methods and tools for the Long-Term Preservation (LTP) of architectural knowledge, including approaches to: Enrich Building Information Models with “as built” information from scans, semantically enrich building models with additional data sets, preserve 3D models for future reuse.
Kronborg is one of the most important Renaissance castles in Northern Europe. Immortalized as Elsinore in William Shakespeare's play Hamlet and part of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites list.
The castle is situated on the extreme northeastern tip of the island of Zealand at the narrowest point of the Øresund, the sound between Denmark and Sweden.
