Traveling bridges
A brief illustrated description of a traveling bridge or rolling ferry, between St. Malo and St. Sevran, in north France. Docks of masonry are built out from either side into the harbor leaving a waterway of 300 ft.; they are 35 ft. high, tide being 33 ft. The bottom is bare at low tide. The truck runs on two rails placed on the bottom and will carry about 100 passengers.
