Some experiments with artificially sedimented clays
Experiments proved that if clay is sedimented in salt water and later subjected to hydraulic gradient resulting in leaching out of salt, undrained shear strength of clay will be reduced and its sensitivity will increase; if clay is deposited in fresh water, its shear strength will be two or three times as high as one sedimented in salt water.
