Behaviour of shock waves entering model bomb shelters
Spark shadowgraph with effective exposure time of fraction of microsecond has enabled very sharp pictures to be obtained of time sequence of shock wave advance, reflection, diffraction, and turbulent breakup in models placed in 4×4-in. sq cross section shock tube; results show that viscous forces play important part in kinetic energy dissipation.
