Consideration of column of which unbent axis is rotated about one end due to deflection of other end; computation methods for column with both ends fixed to prevent rotation; equations for case of column below portal, column within portal, and combined action of column and portal; it is shown that modified secant formula gives results comparing favorably with those obtained by tangent formula.
