Soft ground and lining work on owyhee project tunnels
Construction of concrete-lined irrigation water tunnels No. 5 and No. 1, 4 1/2 mi and 2 1/2 mi long, 11 ft circular and 16 ft 7 in. horseshoe, respectively; adverse geological conditions resulted in need for careful unwatering, advance grouting and steel-plate lining; use of mucking machines.
