Prevention of corrosion in gas condensers
Experience at Harrison, N J, with 4 condensers of 8-pass countercurrent flow type built in 1926; plant uses water from Passaic River, near enough to its mouth to feel effect of tides; saltiness of river water was increased in 1930 by building of dam and diversion of water for city use; results of tests after installation of Kirkaldy system of electric protection in July 1933; corrosion has been reduced by 98.8% and condensers are practically free of slime.
