A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Analysis of hydraulic transients in pipe lines caused by failure of power to pumps is undertaken, using dimensionless-homologous pump data and method of characteristics equations for water hammer; equations are solved by means of high-speed digital computer; effects of large friction heads as compared with large gravity heads are examined, together with effects of diameter change and valve closure timing.
