Shapes for appurtenances in stilling basins
Baffle pier experiments in hydraulic jump type of stilling basins indicate that wedge-shaped blocks with vertex angle of 120° dissipate more energy in shorter length than rectangular blocks; wedge blocks with downstream portion cut-back at angle of 90° are expected to be free from cavitation.
