Design of Swiss roads against frost action
Paper describes topography and climate of Switzerland in relation to road design; development in highway technology, particularly during last 20 yr, is traced; methods for assessing road stability on basis of soil type, groundwater conditions, and frost penetration are discussed; empirical curves for pavement design are shown.
