Reservoir topography by shoreline plotting
To appraise enlargement of American Falls Reservoir for irrigation development in 35,000 sq mi Upper Snake River Basin, present capacity of reservoir had to be known; reservoir remapping was based on plotting shoreline, at selected reservoir water surface elevations; triangulation network of shore points extending into dewatered zones provided horizontal control; multiple flights for serial photography of shoreline were used in obtaining vertical ground control; where banks were steep, successive flights gave infinite image point elevations for vertical control, allowing conventional stereoplotting.
