Development of Port of Zeebrugge
Very unfavorable conditions, high rate of silting-up, and high costs of dredging has forced restriction of current development plan to work which will make port accessible to ships of about 33,000 tdw at low tide and 50,000 tdw at high tides, with maximum draft of 11 m; details of plan and work performed on construction of seawalls, and consolidation of subsoil by driving 14,000 Franki sand piles are described.
