Waste disposal and future at Lake Tahoe
Problems associated with buildup of nitrogen and other nutrients from community wastes produced in Tahoe Basin and threatening extraordinary clarity of Lake Tahoe in California; nutrients in waste effluents reach lake via underground flow, and magnitude of this contribution transcends that of natural sources; alternative solutions including tertiary treatment to remove nutrients are discussed.
