Effective rainfall and irrigation water requirements
Geographical distribution of effective-total rainfall ratios are displayed on 2 maps for 2 levels of consumptive use for 22 widely separated stations; this ratio, which varies from less than 50 to greater than 55%, is inversely related to rainfall magnitude during growing season; nomogram can be used to estimate average growing-season effective rainfall from parameters of seasonal total rainfall, seasonal consumptive use, and application amount; another nomogram, using same independent parameters, can be used to estimate average amount and 10 yr return period amount of irrigation water required on monthly basis.
