A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Performance of pipe culvert inlets is presented in terms of discharge coefficient that closely approximates commonly used values for orifices of similar edge geometry; significance of various aspects of inlet geometry with respect to operation of culvert, as well as to location of applicable control section, is explored; at small model sizes, performance of pipe culverts with tapered inlets is shown to be subject to significant scale effects.
