A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Vibration of building with unusual frontal profile is observed; cause of vibration is found to be vortex shedding; 7 corrective measures are considered and drag and lift of cylindrical and various other shapes are examined; in process of considering corrective measures, building was deliberately set into forced vibration, and percent of critical damping of unplastered vs plastered arch was obtained; modes of vibration of arch are considered, and theoretical evaluation of period is obtained.
