Calibration of A325 bolts
Study of direct tension and torqued tension tests of 170 bolts carried out to determine behavior and performance of individual A325 bolts included effect of thread length between thread runout and face of nut, effect of grip, continuous and incremental torquing, and reserve strength in tension after torquing; results are related to current specification for structural joints using ASTM A325 bolts and have influenced amount of nut rotation required when turn-of-nut method of tightening is used.
