Behavior of hybrid beams subjected to static loads
Behavior of beams consisting of higher-strength steel flanges connected by lower-strength steel webs, under pure bending and combined shear and bending is examined and compared with behavior of homogeneous steel beams; theoretical equations are presented for moment-curvature relationship and for initial yield and fully plastic conditions; results of bending tests on 2 hybrid beams with 100,000 psi yield strength flange and with 50,000-psi and 33,000-psi yield point web are also presented.
