Set of nonlinear partial differential equations with dimensionless variables, for filtration of dilute uni-sized suspension in water through homogeneous sand beds under constant rates of vertically downward flow, is presented; expression for dimensionless filter coefficient relating all physical variables of filtration was obtained by dimensional analysis; solutions of equations were obtained with aid of digital computer using finite difference method; equation relating head loss per unit depth and specific deposit within filter bed is derived and validity of proposed equation is verified with experimental head loss data.
