Infinite body subjected to applied shear stress in plane yz at infinity, contains circular cylindrical rigid inclusion, axis of which is parallel to z axis; problem is analyzed by means of theory of continuous distributions of dislocations, particular attention being given to determination of displacement discontinuity along y=o, and results are compared with those of Barnett and Tetelman; model describes piling up of like dislocations against rigid inclusion only when shear stress opposing their motion is zero.
