Laboratory and industrial investigations of concentration by method of dry magnetic separation of lump (10 to 60 mm) siderites calcined in shaft furnace have established that up to 95% of iron can be recovered in concentrate, with iron content raised to 51%; use of such concentrate in burden reduces cost of pig iron, and specific capital investments. (see also English translation in Stal in English n 9 Sept 1967 p 719-22)
