Urban freeways -- Architects join in their design
In attempt to overcome citizen objections, freeway planning in Baltimore has been made joint responsibility of "Urban Design Concept team;" team members represent architectural firm, traffic engineering consultants, rapid-transit consultants, and Baltimore highway engineering consultants; team is headed by architect-member; this was done to insure that aesthetic aspects get adequate consideration; team sees that freeway location studies are coordinated with urban planning studies; though still experiment, Baltimore's team approach is looked to as possible solution to roadblock in construction of urban freeways.
