Determination of deflection coefficients for laminated decking
Structural tests were performed on laminated timber roof decks to obtain strength and stiffness data to compare with theoretical deflection values, code or recommended design deflection coefficients, and existing data from other decking tests; results showed among other things that deflection coefficient at 1/130 or lower could be used, which would allow longer spans or higher loads; load vs deflection curves for both simple span design and random three span design indicated elastic behavior for laminated decking roof panels; allowable design bending stress value for laminated decking of 2000 psi appears safe and reasonable.
