Extension of AASHO road test performance concepts
Study to examine existing hypotheses and to develop new hypotheses of pavement performance as related to fundamental principles of engineering mechanics and materials science and to test these hypotheses with data at hand from AASHO Road Test and elsewhere; theoretical stresses and displacements are functionally related to performance; present serviceability index is essentially subjective concept; some data on number of axle load applications to any given level of serviceability were inconsistent.
