Durability of lime-stabilized soils
Results of laboratory investigation of durability of 10 lime-stabilized clayey soils from various parts of Canada are discussed; fixed quantity of lime was added to each soil, based on quantities recommended for highway subgrade applications; durability was assessed by means of cyclic freezing and thawing, and changes in durability were determined by measuring changes in length of laterally confined specimens; changes in durability of lime-stabilized soils are discussed in relation to tentative theory based on behavior of portland cement mortars under similar conditions.
