Standards of road building practice in tropics
Summarized account of four investigations undertaken in East Africa as part of study of road building practices in tropics; aspects of road building examined were -- variability of soil at subgrade level and its effect on road design and construction; efficiency of spreading and mixing operations in mix-in-place stabilized road base construction; states of compaction obtained in earthworks and bases and effect on these of variations in soil type; surface finish achieved by constructional technique employed in tropical countries.
