Practical application of natural rubber in bituminous road surfacings
Blending of rubberized binders and methods of adding natural rubber to mixed materials are described; methods of laying of rubberized materials are noted where these differ from procedures normally adopted for unrubberized materials; results from full-scale road experiments; it is concluded that advantages can be gained from use of rubber in surface-dressing, rolled asphalt, mastic asphalt and bitumen macadam; advantages are considerable where mastic asphalt is used to replace cracked asphalt over concrete joints and also where open-textured bitumen macadam carpets are used.
