Factors influencing field stability of soil-aggregate mixtures
Study of variables affecting stability of soil-aggregate mixtures to be used as surface or base-course materials on secondary roads; in-situ properties evaluated were Burgraff shear strength, density, and moisture content; field samples were analyzed to determine gradation, moisture-density relation, particle index, and plasticity; crushed stone and gravel materials were evaluated for 147 test sites; field density and moisture content significantly influence stability; results are discussed.
