Method for calculating compaction effect of roller; relations between stresses and deformations during compaction of soil are established, based on A.Kezdi's (1964) considerations of viscous fluid analogy; formulas are derived enabling calculation of soil settlement in terms of contact pressure, roller's velocity, contact area, and known soil parameters; method for determining stress and settlement values in loading and unloading phase of rolling is proposed; numerical example is solved.
