Navigation conditions at McAlpine locks and dam Ohio River
Investigation was concerned with reconstruction and modernization of locks and dam on Ohio River at Louisville, Ky; modernization plan included construction of new lock with chamber having clear dimensions of 110×1200 ft to be located northwest of existing 56×360 ft lock, modernization of existing 110×600 ft lock, widening of upper entrance canal, and reconstruction of existing dam; undistorted model, scale 1:120, reproducing approximately 6 mi of Ohio River, locks and dam structures, approach canal, hydroplant, bridges, levees, walls, and other structures that affect flow conditions, was used for investigation.
