Comparative analysis of traffic assignment techniques with actual highway use
Forecast and assignment were treated in project as separate aspects of predicting future traffic use; data from Connecticut and Pennsylvania were used in analyzing assignment techniques and making preliminary analyses of forecast techniques; pair of origin-destination studies, made before and after construction of New Connecticut River crossing were used to test assignments to isolated rural highway facility; four techniques were tested; investigation covered link assignments related to changes in origin destination patterns, network changes and assigned volumes, and changes in travel related to construction of major facility.
