Summary of part of work carried out by author as holder of 1946-48 award of Aluminum Development Assn Research Scholarship administered by Instn of Naval Architects; design of complete ship using marine type light alloys was undertaken to investigate possible advantages of such design and to bring to light any hitherto unsuspected difficulties, if any, in such an application.
