Suspension roof support
Fundamental theory of suspension roof supports is not new; basic principle involved is reinforcement of roof rock with steel rods inserted in roof and anchored therein at points where rock is least likely to be affected by stresses resulting from mining; St. Joseph Lead Co, in southeastern Missouri, has applied principle for more than 20 yr; St. Joseph practice; other practices; tools for erecting suspension supports; adaptation to cycle of operations in coal mines. (See also - n 8 Aug 1949 p 18-22; U S Bur Mines -- Information Cir v 38 n 7533 Sept 1949 13 p)
