Experimental study of hydraulic downpull on coaster gate
Experimental investigation of magnitude of hydraulic force acting on sluice gate when closing or opening under pressure; amounts by which force may be reduced by perforating lower beams of gate and effect of extending skin plate beyond lowest girder; conclusion is that magnitude of force may be reduced one third with consequent large savings in cost of handling equipment and superstructure of dam.
