Construction of dam on Flathead River, 9 mi southeast of Columbia Falls, Mont; structure, 2115 ft long, will rise 520 ft above lowest point in its foundation, will contain 3,000,000 cu yd of concrete and will increase by 334,000 kw firm power capacity of existing downstream plants; power house will have four 105,000-hp turbines driving 75, 000-kw generators; 7010 cfm compressed air to all parts of project is supplied from central plant; spillway is of glory hole type; overhead cableway system will place concrete; photographs show construction stages and equipment.
