Steel caissons sunk 91 ft into Mississippi River form foundation of 1000 × 75 ft reinforced concrete wharf in Arabi, La; there are 153 caissons, spaced 20 ft apart in three rows 30 ft apart; caissons were driven by single acting hammer, powered by 70-hp steam boiler; caissons were completely filled with concrete; construction stages shown.
