A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Tension, compression and absorption tests on specimens made of red sandy loam, yellow sandy clay loam and black clay loam and various proportions of cement; for examining building properties of soil cement circular hut 18 ft in diam and pavilion 15 ft sq were tested; costs of walls were 25% less than those of brick masonry. Report on tension and compression tests made with cement stabilised soil briquets and cubes used as building material; sandy loam and cement blocks of particular composition gave good results; illustrated examples of buildings made of soil cement blocks. (see also India. Central Board Irrigation -- J v 6 n 2 Apr 1949 p 165-70)
