Limestone airbase nears completion
Air Force Base consists of long runway, 340-ft span reinforced concrete arch hangar, control building and utilities; runway construction required moving of 1.5 million yd from cut to fill; gravel base compacted by 200-ton compactor; roof slab of hangar is 6 in. thick tapering to 5 in.; concrete floor 20 in. thick; falswork and concrete placement.
