Intake at Rochester, NY, extending approximately 1 1/2 mi into Lake Ontario, consists of reinforced concrete pipe, 5 1/2 in. thick with 54 in. inside diam and wooden crib; latter has two removable wooden plank screen grilles, 14 × 14 ft; shore end of intake terminates in 30 ft diam concrete well 40 ft deep; raw water pumps are located in intake well.
