Steel arch construction expedites repair of explosion-damaged sewer
About 2000 gal of benzol escaping into sewer in Terre Haute, Ind, caused explosion and damaged 2825 ft of sewer outfall 84-92 in. in diam; Armco multi plate arch, bituminous coated, with 96 in. span was selected, based on cost estimates which were $18.70 per ft while other repair methods required up to $45 per ft; typical work carried out while maintaining flow in sewer, shown.
