Due to lack of steel shells for encasing concrete of three-channel box sewer in Philadelphia, precast reinforced concrete piles were driven; they were tapered, and reinforced with four or six 3/4 in. bars depending on whether piles were less or more than 15 ft; 2500 psi strength was usually reached in 5 days; pictorial data on handling and driving piles and on sewer construction.
