Is field CBR test adaptable to granular subgrades and bases?
California Bearing Ratio Test, (CBR), usually performed in laboratory, can be applied to determination of strength in situ of base material; sand layer as equalizing material for uneven surface of subsoil can lead to stress concentration; thoroughly hardened plaster of Paris or other rigid material is seating medium by which uniform stress distribution can be attained.
