Virginia reconstructs U S route 60 as dual-lane divided highway
Illustrated report on reconstruction of 18-ft concrete highway between Richmond and Williamsburg, built in 1920, to two 24 ft highways with grassed median strip; new pavement is 9 in. slab, reinforced with single layer of 6 × 12 in. mesh of No 4 gage wire; expansion joints are inserted at 90 ft intervals; concrete designed for minimum compressive strength of 3000 psi at 28 days.
