Heavy-duty concrete pavement for Messent road, Bombay
Road in Bombay, India, 7700 ft long, had 2 1/2 in. thick shelcrete carpet on macadam surface; worn out through war traffic, surface was repaved with 6 in. reinforced concrete slab; mix of 1:2:4 and reinforcement at rate of 6 lb per sq yd; compaction of concrete effected by means of Johnson's Vibrating Screed and by hand tamping; data on joints, costs and materials requirement.
