Topaz as Admixture in Refractory Concrete
Effect of finely ground topaz on fired strength of refractory concrete investigated; quantity of topaz equal in weight to cement was added to commonly used mixtures of calcium aluminate cement and grog; when fired at 1600 F and above, mixtures with topaz developed strengths three to six times those of mixtures without topaz; ASTM standard refractory tests, with some variations, were made on different refractory concrete mixtures.
