Long piers for navy's surplus ships
In constructing eleven parallel piers 1845 ft long on St. Johns river, steel foundation piles were driven by floating equipment, one rig first driving vertical piles and second the batter piles with hammer-supported in bridle; concrete for deck, which was built in 200 ft sections, was produced in truck mounted mixers and pumped to desired point through 8-in. dia line.
