Apr 1948 n 4 p 81-86: Description of lining of canal of Central Valley Project, with 3 1/2 in. of class A concrete; special equipment made possible continuous lining of 1000 ft in 8-hr shift; trimming machine, conveyor belts, lining and finishing machine, described. May 1948 n 5 p 90-94: Particulars of stilling basin consisting of concrete box section 50 ft wide; parabolic curve design at inlet headwall reduces hydraulic losses; cast iron "gooseneck" outlets with flap valves built into bottom of canal to relieve groundwater pressure; wasteway and irrigation turnouts also described.
