After log crib dam with inadequate spillway capacity had to be demolished to protect lumber mill from destruction by unprecedented 20,000-sec-ft flood, rock and timber crib dam was built that had provisions for quickly removing some 10 ft of flashboards should similar emergency occur; timber dam was built from materials available nearby and mill was thus back in production in relatively short time.
