Built to transport 2,500,000 tons of river sand and crushed gravel over 12 1/2 mi from pits at McCann's Island, New South Wales, to site of Warragamba Dam 40 mi from Sydney, cableway is two-rope system carried on steel trestles; moving train consists of 550 buckets, each carrying 1 1/3 tons; ropeway driven by three 180-hp electric motors.
